WOOLWORTHS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE COMPETITION: TERMS AND CONDITIONS (the “Rules”)

WATER MONTH 2024 - Woolies School water hero. Stand a chance to win a water tank with filtration and a handwashing station for your school.

  1. The Promoter: This Woolworths Make the Difference Competition (“the Competition”) is operated by Woolworths (Pty) Ltd (“Woolworths” or “the Promoter” or “us” or “we”).

  2. Who may enter: This Competition is open to: (a) all Woolworths customers who are18 (eighteen) years or older during the Competition Period and new participants of the Woolworths Make the Difference programme (“MTD”) as detailed in paragraph 4 below, and (b) all schools located in South Africa (“Entrant(s)” or “you”). By participating in this Competition, Entrants confirm the acceptance of these Rules.

  3. The Competition Period: The Competition commences at 00:00am on 1 March 2024 and terminates at 23:59pm on 31 March 2024 (“Competition Period”). No entries will be accepted after 23:59pm on 31 March 2024 . There is no entry fee to participate in this Competition.

How to participate as a customer (nominating your chosen school): You may enter this Competition by nominating the school of your choice as a “Water Champion”. You may only nominate 1 (one) school. To do so, please register for the MTD via the following link: https://mtd.woolworths.co.za/about. Once you have successfully registered on the MTD platform, you must visit the verified Woolworths Facebook Page and comment on the Competition post with the name of the school that you believe should win the prize. If your chosen school has a Facebook page of their own, please tag that page. If not, please let the school you have nominated know of the nomination as they will need to complete the steps set out below.

  1. How to enter as a school: If you are a school that has received a nomination or are a school that would like to enter the Competition, please register on the MTD platform. Once you have done so, the MTD platform will set out certain steps that you must complete to participate in the competition, namely:

a. Your school must choose or create a water society consisting of educators and students – this can also be a collective school initiative (“the society”). b. The society will be responsible for leading and coordinating water conservation activities within the school. c. Your school submit a high-level overview of the plan outlining their existing water conservation practices and proposed initiatives on the MTD platform.

  1. Woolworths, acting in its sole discretion, may remove and/or disqualify any nominations and/or entries submitted to the MTD platform that do not align with the Woolworths values. The authors of offending comments and schools who submit offending information to the MTD platform will automatically be disqualified.

You may only enter this Competition once. As a participant nominating a school, you may only do so once . As a school, your new registration with MTD together with the submission of your Competition documents constitutes your entry and you may only do so once.

  1. The Prize is exclusively for the Prize winning school and is not transferable, not exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for its cash value.

  2. Please note that should the Prize for any reason whatsoever become unavailable, Woolworths may in its sole discretion award a similar Prize in value.

  3. Selection of the Prize winner: The Prize winners will be selected by Woolworths by way of a random draw in the second week of April 2024, under the supervision of an independent attorney. The winning schools will be notified that they have won a Prize via telephone or email during 8 April and 12 April 2024. Woolworths will make 2 (two) attempts only to obtain and verify the l information it requires to verify the winner’s eligibility to win the prize and delivery information(“PersonalInformation”).

  4. Where a school fails to provide his/her Personal Information within 24 (twenty-four) hours of it being requested by Woolworths, s/he shall be disqualified from this Competition and automatically forfeits the Prize. In the event of disqualification of a winner, Woolworths, in its sole discretion, shall be entitled, to select another winner from amongst the Competition Entrants.

  5. Amendments to the Rules: These Rules may be amended by Woolworths on notification to Entrants at any time during the Competition Period. The latest date on which these terms have been updated will always appear at the top of these Rules.

  6. Disqualification: The Prize winner shall be disqualified from the Competition in the event thatthe Prize winner has not complied with any of the provisions of these Rules.

  7. Woolworths collects and uses the Personal Information of Entrants to allow them to enter the Competition, comply with audit requirements in terms of the Consumer Protection Act (where relevant) and to determine winners for the competitions. Woolworths may use the winner’s name and/or images in marketing material, which may include publication of the winner’s name and/or images on http://www.woolworths.co.za/todaywithwoolies and https://mtd.woolworths.co.za the Woolworths social media pages, but the winner will always be informed of this beforehand and will be given an opportunity to refuse to permit any use of their School’s names and/or images.   8. Audit: Woolworths reserves the right to carry out audits in respect of any Prize winner to verify their eligibility to win the Prize.

  9. Circumstances beyond Woolworths’ control: If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is not reasonably foreseeable or is beyond the reasonable control of Woolworths and which delays or prevents Woolworths from complying with these Rules, Woolworths will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations.

  10. Indemnity: By participating in the Competition, Entrants agree to indemnify Woolworths, and release and hold Woolworths harmless against any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with this Competition or resulting from acceptance and participation in the Competition including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy.

  11. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook.

  12. Any reference to Woolworths in these terms and conditions shall be deemed to include reference to Woolworths (Pty) Ltd, Woolworths Financial Services (Pty) Ltd and any of their holding, associated or sister companies and subsidiaries. Please note that when you share your information with one of these companies, you agree to also sharing it with others within the Woolworths group of companies who may use it to send you promotional material.
