Woolworths Making the Difference School Competition 2023: Terms and Conditions (the “Rules”) Stand a chance to win R100 000.00 (one hundred thousand Rand) in cash for your school. The Promoter: This Woolworths Making the Difference School Competition (“the Competition”) is operated by Woolworths (Pty) Ltd (“Woolworths” or “the Promoter” or “us” or “we”).

1. Who may enter: This Competition is open to all DBE registered South African schools, parents, educators and customers who are: (a) registered on the Woolworths Making the Difference portal (www.mtd.woolworths.co.za); and (b) resident in South Africa and c) who are 18 years and older (“Entrants” or “you”). By participating in this Competition, Entrants confirm the acceptance of these Rules.

2. The Competition Period: The Competition commences at 00:00am on 17 April 2023 and terminates at 23:59pm on 1 August 2023 (“Competition Period”). No entries will be accepted after 23:59pm on 1 August 2023. There is no entry fee to participate in this Competition.

3. How to enter: Entrants must register on the Woolworths Making the Difference (“MTD”) platform via www.mtd.woolworths.co.za.

4. Upon registration, the Entrant must select a school. One registered user under the school name will count as one entry.

5. Schools need a minimum of 2500 (two thousand five hundred) registrations in order to stand a chance to win the R100 000.00 (one hundred thousand Rand) cash prize.

6. Schools may monitor their progress by going onto the MTD digital platform to track their daily progress and registered user tally.

7. If two or more schools tie, the external adjudicator would select a winner by means of a random draw.

The Competition will be run on the verified Woolworths Facebook and Instagram social media accounts (“Social Media”) during the Competition Period.

Woolworths reserves the right to remove entries from Facebook and/or Instagram that do not, in the sole discretion of Woolworths, align with its values.

8. The Prize: By participating in this Competition in accordance with these Rules, Entrants stand a chance to win the prize which consists of R100 000.00 (one hundred thousand Rand) in cash (“the Prize”). The Prize is exclusively for the Prize winner and is not transferable or exchangeable.

9. Please note that should the Prize for any reason whatsoever become unavailable, Woolworths may in its sole discretion award a similar Prize in value.

10. Selection of the Prize winner: The Prize winner, which will be a school, will be selected by Woolworths under the supervision of an independent attorney. The Prize winner will be selected based on having accumulated the most registered users for that specific school.

11. The winner/school will be notified that it has won the Prize via telephone and/or email during the week of the 1st of August 2023 to the 7th August 2023. Woolworths will make 2 (two) attempts to obtain and verify the following personal information from the Prize winner: name, surname, and/or email address (“Personal Information”).

12. In the event that the winner/school fails to provide its Personal Information within 24 (twenty four) hours of it being requested by Woolworths, it shall be disqualified from this Competition and will automatically forfeit the Prize. In the event of disqualification of a winner, Woolworths, in its sole discretion, shall be entitled, to select another winner from amongst the Entrants.

13. Amendments to the Rules: These Rules may be amended by Woolworths on notification to Entrants at any time during the Competition Period.

14. Disqualification: The winner shall be disqualified from the Competition in the event that: (a) the winner has not complied with any of the provisions of these Rules, or (b) any of his/her accounts with Woolworths is in arrears or, in the opinion of Woolworths, not in general good order and standing at the time of the Prize draw.

15. Woolworths collects and uses the Personal Information of Entrants to allow them to enter the competitions, comply with audit requirements in terms of the Consumer Protection Act and to determine winners for the competitions. Woolworths may use the winner’s name and/or images in marketing material, which may include publication of the winner’s name and/or images on https://mtd.woolworths.co.za and MySchool, MyVillage, MyPlanet social media pages, but the winner will always be informed of this beforehand and will be given an opportunity to refuse to permit any use of his/her names and/or images. 16. Audit: Woolworths reserves the right to carry out audits in respect of any Prize winner to verify their eligibility to win the Prize.

17. Circumstances beyond Woolworths’ control: If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is not reasonably foreseeable or is beyond the reasonable control of Woolworths and which delays or prevents Woolworths from complying with these Rules, Woolworths will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations.

18. Indemnity: By participating in the Competition, Entrants agree to indemnify Woolworths, and release and hold Woolworths harmless against any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with this Competition or resulting from acceptance and participation in the Competition including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy.

19. This Competition is open to any of Woolworths’ employees and their family members, including the employees and family members of the Woolworths advertising and promotional agencies and distributors.

20. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook and/or Instagram.

21. Any reference to Woolworths in these terms and conditions shall be deemed to include reference to Woolworths (Pty) Ltd, Woolworths Financial Services (Pty) Ltd and any of their holding, associated or sister companies and subsidiaries. Please note that when you share your information with one of these companies, you agree to also sharing it with others within the Woolworths group of companies who may use it to send you promotional material.
